Two ways to qualify
Athletes can qualify for the Paris 2024 Games in two ways: by achieving the entry standard or by being ranked among the top athletes in their event.
Entry standard
50% of qualification places will be based on achieving the entry standard. The entry standards are set by World Athletics and are designed to ensure that only the best athletes in the world compete at the Olympic Games.
NOC quota
A National Olympic Committee (NOC) may enter a maximum of three qualified athletes in each individual event if all of them have achieved the entry standard.
Events
28 events for men and women
The athletics programme at the Paris 2024 Games will include 28 events for men and women, as well as two mixed events: the 4x400m mixed relay and the 35km race walk.
